In this set of materials, the reading passage states the shortcomings of homeschooling, while the listening passage indicates its advantages.

First of all, the reading informs us that homeschooled students do not learn as much as those who attend conventional schools. However, the lecture claims that many studies have confirmed that homeschooled learners actually learn much more than traditional school students do. Therefore, the professor in the lecture absolutely disagrees that homeschooled students learn less knowledge.

In addition, the article indicates that learning at home can make children lose the opportunity to interact with other students. Nevertheless, the speech asserts that studying at home makes it more convenient for students to interact with other homeschooled students because their parents have more flexible time to arrange the activity.

Third, the text mentions that the content of the curriculum is relatively narrow for homeschooled students. Nonetheless, the lecture illustrates that children studying at home can learn a wide range of courses, since the curriculum planning is not limited by the school board. As a result, parents can plan whatever courses they want.
