Human beings are social animals. All of the decisions that we made in our lives, from what to dress today to which university to enroll, are affected by other people's opinions or suggestions. Some people view family as an essential factor that affects young adults' decisions. However, as far as I am concerned, friends influence young adults more.

First of all, people are easily influenced by others who surround them, and young adults spend more time with their friends than their parents. To be more specific, young adults may leave home for university and meet with their parents once a week or a month. However, they spend most of their daily life with their friends. For example, my sister was an introvert and not comfortable to talk with people. However, I saw a huge change in her social skills after one year that she left home for university. She told me that her roommates and friends led her to take part in volunteer works and encouraged her to actively interact with others when doing service. Thanks to her friends' influence, now, she becomes outgoing and always greets others with a warm smile.

In addition, young adults take friendship more seriously and they care about how their friends view them. Take myself as an example. Once in my sophomore year, my parents asked me to come home to join a family reunion. However, one of my best friends, her birthday party was also held on the same weekend. Since all my friends planned to attend that birthday party, I was afraid that I would be marginalized if I did not join that birthday party. As a result, I did not go back home as my parents demanded and chose to attend the party instead. It is friendship that influenced me to make that decision.

To sum up, in my opinion, I strongly believe that friends are the most important influence on young adults. This is because young adults spend most of their time with friends and they take friendship seriously.
