1. devote oneself to 專心於、獻身於

( = dedicate oneself to = commit oneself to )

Ex：one can only 「devote oneself to」 the society in order to find out the meaning of life which is actually short and risky.

人只能有獻身社會，才能找出那實際上是短暫而有風險的生命的意義。

2. durable    n. 耐用品 adj. 耐用的，持久的

Ex：why did such a 「durable」 species die out?

為什麼這樣一個持久的物種滅絕了？

3. enhance    vt. 提高；加強；增加

Ex：the role of this bucket is to capture everything that could 「enhance」 your activity.

這個水桶的作用是捕捉每一樣能夠增強你活動能力的東西。

4. equipment    n. 設備，裝備；器材

Ex：what kind of 「equipment」 should you use?

你應該使用哪種設備呢？

5. imply    vt. 意味；暗示；隱含

Ex：At the same time, it is important to note that globalism does not 「imply」 universality.

7. arrears    n. [會計] 拖欠；待完成的事；應付欠款

Ex：the centre has helped her regain her home, sort out the benefit snarl-up that led to the 「arrears」 and get money to repair the place.

11. debit

v. 記入借（賬戶）借方，借記；（從銀行賬戶中）取款

n. 借記，借方；借項

Ex：there is no service charge on the 「debit」 card, but each atm transaction costs one dollar.

12. debt    n. 債務；借款；罪過

Ex：I owe a big 「debt」 of gratitude to her.

我對她萬分感激。

13. deduct    vt. 扣除，減去；演繹

Ex：Don’t 「deduct」 the commission from the value of the consignment.

不要從貨物的價值中扣除傭金。

14. deficit    n. 赤字；不足額

Ex：exports are dwindling and the trade 「deficit」 is swelling.

出口在縮減，貿易赤字在增長。

15. deflation    n. 通貨緊縮

Ex：no one thinks that 「deflation」 in itself is desirable.
