With the prevalence of the Internet and smartphone, nowadays, more and more people use the social networking websites. People even spend all of their short blocks of time, such as waiting for the bus or meal, on the social media. It is obvious that this phenomenon is gradually changing our lifestyle.

Human beings are social animals. People like to share their opinions about certain issues with others. With the advent of social networking websites, it is easier for people to share things that happened in their life. Moreover, those social networking websites provide a platform for people to interact with others beyond the region limitations. Take my cousin as an example. She is a fan of an American singer. She logs in facebook every day to see whether her favorite singer posts any news on the fan page and tries to leave a comment on the post. Even though she is in Taiwan, the social media provides a certain platform for her to interact with her favorite idol.

In addition, since more and more people share information on the social networking websites, the influence of those social media to the society increases. For instance, when choosing a restaurant for gathering, people would search the reviews of the restaurants on the social website before deciding the restaurant. Our views and choices are broadened by the information shared on the social websites. Furthermore, people are more well-behaved. People would be more inclined to follow the social norms since they may be afraid that the misbehaviors would be recorded and posted online.

To sum up, I believe that it is the prevalence of internet and the social functions that make the social networking websites more and more popular. People can get information more easily via those social media and be a sort of self-disciplined due to the prevalence of social media.
