When it comes to the ideal way to travel, different people have their own preferences. Some people think that it is safer and easier to travel in group, while others prefer to explore the unknown world by themselves. As far as I am concerned, I am against the statement that the best way to travel is in a group led by a tour guide. Let me elaborate further in below.

To begin with, it is traveling that provides you a chance to experience a new culture and explore an unknown place. However, if you travel with a group led by a tour guide, you will be deprived of the joy to discover the unique world by yourself. You will be led by the tour guide and view the world from his/her perspective. Take myself as an example. I once traveled to Japan with a travel agency. They led us to almost all the famous sightseeing spots. However, the schedule was so tight, and I did not get many chances to stay in one spot for a long time. Not until I went to Japan alone again did I truly experience the real Japanese culture. Instead of visiting those tourist attractions, I went to local markets and have a real traditional meal with the Japanese friends that I met in the hostel. I would not have this special experience if I traveled with a travel agency.

In addition, the cost is also an essential element when talking about traveling. You can save more expenditures if traveling alone. By contrast, you might need to pay a bunch of money to the tour guide.  For example, my aunt once traveled in a group led by a local tour guide in Thailand. She complained to me about the tip to tour guide. On the last day of the trip, she was asked to pay the tip to the local tour guide; however, the amount was too high and out of her expectation. The extra cost made her so angry and leave a bad memory on this trip. Nevertheless, this issue would not happen if she chose to travel alone. 

To sum up, although it may be easier to travel in a group led by a tour guide, I still think that traveling alone is the best way to enjoy a trip. You can not only set your own schedule but also save more costs. Moreover, you will definitely leave a unique memory in the trip designed by yourself.
