【完整題目】Some people think that scientists make the most important contributions to society. Other people think that the contributions of artists are the most important. Which position do you agree with?

With the advance of society, some people claim that the scientists play an important role on it, while others contend that the society would not be so prosperous without the contributions from the artists. As a rational person, I hold the belief that scientists lead to the rapid development of society; therefore, they contribute more than artists. Here are my reasons.

To begin with, scientists elevate the standard of medical care. For example, one of my friends got brain cancer when he was just five years old. If there was no new medicine created by scientists, he would not be able to gradually recover from the cancer. Now, he is fully recovered and as healthy as normal people. Thanks to the medical progress, nowadays, human beings can live longer and get well from illness easily. It is obvious that we would not be able to enjoy the advancement of medical care without the contributions from the scientists.

In addition, scientists develop machines that enhance technology and productivity that boost economic growth and make our life more convenient. Take agriculture as an example. In the past, the farmers harvested a limited quantity of produce. With the advance in growing technology, they can not only expand their cultivation areas but also diversify crops and enhance productivity. All the growth and advancement would not happen if there was no hard work and research from the scientists.

To sum up, because of the improvement in the quality of medical care and the enhancement of productivity, I believe that scientists make the most essential contributions to our society. Although some people may say that artists enrich our life, as far as I am concerned, a colorful life is based on a well-developed society. It is scientists that spend the most efforts to the development of our society.
